Mile-High Exhaustion

I am so tired this trip. Which makes no sense, because I'm getting at least 9 hours of sleep each night in some of the most comfortable beds ever. [This hotel is more than legit.]

Still, I am exhausted, and all I do is listen to lectures, then venture out onto the 16th Street Mall for food, people watching, and just experiencing Denver.

In general, I'm really liking it here. It's so cute, and I love the mountain backdrop. And the fall weather? Amazing! At just 16% humidity, today's mid-to-high 70s felt like mid-60s. It's simply blissful.

I'm also feeling a bit nerdy as well. Yes, this is like a mini-vacation from classes, and from Indiana in general, but I'm not doing the normal vacation stuff. Instead, I'm drifting from conference room to conference room for different lectures and other presentations about visual journalism.

And I love it.

Sure, it's sort of like being in my journalism classes at BSU...but it's different. We are hearing from some of the best in the industry, learning their tricks and tips, hearing their advice on our work, and establishing some good networking for the future.

I have never been more interested in this field, and it just helps me feel more in place where I'm at than ever.

2 more days...

until I get out of this place for a little while.

Goodbye cornfields...
...hello, Rocky Mountains!

I am heading out to Denver on Wednesday
for a Society for News Design conference.

$395 for registration alone.
Luckily, thanks to some crappy flight service from Frontier back in June,
I had a flight voucher and ended up only paying
$1.46 for the rest of my flight.
(And no, that is not a typo.)

Anyways, it should be a good time.
Lots of workshops and chances for networking.

I'll be sure to have some pictures when I get back :)

Bad beginning, good ending

This week has been quite the roller coaster.

Monday sucked.
Tuesday was...okay.
Wednesday sucked worse.
Thursday was good. Great, even.
Friday: AMAZING.

I dominated my to-do list, picked up a couple job applications, actually had a decent amount of sleep, actually ate some breakfast, fixed a glitch in my SND conference registration, and was just generally happy.

Now that's a way to end the week :)

The Humpday without sleep...

...just a nap from about 3 am - 6:30 am.

It will be a miracle to make it through today.

I feel as though i have already
put this post to shame...

What's going to get me through this long humpday...

Mind Right Mondays

So staying up until 4 am doing homework,
and thus only getting 5 hours of sleep,
not getting coffee until lunch,
and being tortured by mother nature all day,
I could really use some hope for the rest of the week.

BRING. IT. ON.

Goals for the Week:
  • Don't put off homework until the night before
  • Get closer to finding a job
  • Get next week planned out (I'm going to Denver!)
  • Do something for ME
Grateful for:
  • My roommate
  • Opportunity
  • Music
  • Coffee
  • Faith

Under construction...again

So I have this thing with change. I'm a restless person in general, so when i comes to certain aspects of life I need a change every so often, of scenery, of atmosphere, whatever.

That said, my page will probably be undergoing waves of change over the next couple weeks until I'm happy with it again.

Already Wednesday?

The long weekend seemed to last forever. And I wish all weekends were the same way!

Then yesterday was so...blah. Not good.

However, I have a good feeling about today. I woke up a little after 8:30 with close to 9 hours of sleep under my belt.

Then I started my morning with some friends drinking some...

Mmm...it's a great way to start the morning. :)

Now I'm just finishing up an episode of Supernatural on TNT, and gearing up for a productive day.

Happy Humpday :)

It's a never-ending battle...

Procrastinate (v)
to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done

I've seen procrastination at its best and worst.
I fight it every day, and it is usually a losing battle.
(Is it possible to unintentionally procrastinate?)
This is one of my biggest vices in life, and I hope to conquer it soon.

Self-discipline (n)
correction or regulation of oneself for the sake of improvement

I need more of this in my life.
When it comes to homework, working out, and cleaning,
(just to name a few things),
I always find some way to push things to the last minute,
or not do them at all.
And it sucks.

Something needs to change...

Conquering the Humpday Hill

I'm not going to lie, it's been a pretty terrible week so far.

So much stress,
so little sleep,
and too much crappy food.

Here's a sample of the randomness that helps me get over the blah...

As if the original version of this music video isn't tripped-out enough,
this "literal interpretation" is quite hilarious.
I get a kick out of it every time :)

This song is popular in my suite right now.
Its just so catchy.
And who doesn't secretly love some Enrique ;)

My sister posted this the other day.
So funny.
And it makes me miss her and my nephew so much more!

Hope you are making the best of your humpday!
