It's so close...

MARCH.

It's right there, so close.
Just 1 more day.
I can taste it.

I'm just so ready to be done with February.
It's been rough, to say the least.

Sickness, stress, chilling weather.
And too many decisions piling up.
I'd rather not think about summer until the end of spring break...
at the earliest.

No complaints about this weekend, though.
I slept with no alarms to wake me up both days.
And while I wasn't productive,
I had no need to be since I have nothing due tomorrow.

Instead, I had an IHOP brunch and shopping trip
with a good friend Saturday,
followed by a spontaneous afternoon with the roommates.
We hit up a couple pet stores.
Holding puppies was involved.
It was great.

And then I went with a rommate to the men's volleyball match,
of course.
We won.
[of course ;) ]

As for today,
it was just lunch, reading, and a nap.
And now I'm at work.
No complaints.

I'm just trying to round out this
less-than-pleasurable month
with some stress-free mentality.

:)

Finals Week

It's here.
And I couldn't be more happy.

It's like one long weekend,
just dotted with projects and papers and tests.
But its still relaxing, and not as stressful.

So while I've been working hard on my final assignments,
I've also been watching TONS of movies with my roommates...

Random mix?
Yes.

Embarrassing mix?
Hah. Maybe.

But its been a good time.

I've also gotten a lot more sleep than I have been lately,
which is a miracle.

Oh, and I also found out that I got the internship for spring design intern at the Muncie Star Press!
I am so relieved that I will be able to tackle my credit while near campus and have some sort of income next semester.
However, it does mean that I will be quitting my Old National job, but let's face it...

I'm more than okay with that.

For now, I'm just looking forward to break,
and plowing through these last few days.

More Than Corn: Canal Walk

So a long, long time ago, I created this post with the intent of seeking out the exciting parts of Indiana.
Until last night, I had not taken any initiative. (Oops.)

Better late than never.

Canal Walk

While I forgot to take my camera last night, it wasn't hard to find multitudes of pictures online of the canal in downtown Indianapolis. I love going there. The 3-mile loop around the entire canal makes for good leisurely exercise, especially when you're with friends who always make it a good time.

You can walk, jog, bike, even rent a paddle boat or gondola. They even have segway tours. You can check out the beautiful war memorial (the teal construction on the left side of the canal in the picture above). There are also gorgeous apartments and condos located on the canal. If I by some fate end up in Indiana when I grow up, my dream home would be one of these apartments. They are super expensive, though.

The canal is part of the White River cultural district, one of Indianapolis' six cultural districts. (I hope to make it to each district before I give up on this "More Than Corn" challenge!)

To the clouds and back

Clouds?
Yes, because for part of the trip,
the clouds were so low,
they swallowed the tops of the mountains!

Anyways...

Thursday
we just did some grocery shopping,
then let the boys play at the park
while Jenn had softball practice.
Then we ate some Texas Roadhouse
since Jenn was working anyways.
Afterwards, we took the boys and
Jenn's crazy, wild, yet adorable, dog Harley, on a walk.
Well, Harley took me for a walk...

Friday
after some party shopping, Jenn had to work again.
SO...
Angela, the boys, and I headed down to Draper.
First, we ate at In-and-Out Burger.
The midwest NEEDS one of these!
Mmm. :)
Then we went to the best creation ever...
IKEA!
It was Angela's first time and it won't be her last!

Saturday
was quite the adventure...
Jenn had an awesome LEGO party planned for Caleb,
an outdoor LEGO party.
Well, thanks to 50 mph winds whipping through the valley,
this was not feasible.
So some last minute tweaking turned the event into
and indoor pool LEGO party.
And yes, it was still a success!
Then after it was all over,
I sought out the Bountiful B :)

Sunday
we made our trip to the mountains.
We took the tram to the top of Hidden Peak at Snowbird.
To put it simply, we were in a cloud.
Literally.
Pretty cool when you think about it though...
Oh, and it was snowing.
In June.
Enough said.
We also had a little bonfire that night,
complete with hot dog-roasting and s'mores-making.
Then after I took Angela and Jared back to the hotel,
I headed up the mountain to watch the sunset :)

Monday
was our last day,
and we spent it at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, UT.
I have to admit, this place was pretty cool,
and a great deal.
For just short of 30 bucks,
we got to explore the Dinosaur museum,
pet and feed farm animals,
(the boys got a pony ride!),
go to the Discovery Gardens,
see a free movie
(which we had to pass on because of time),
and got some free ice cream and popcorn.
Like I said, a great deal.

Tuesday
should've been a simple day,
with a flight, a layover, and another flight,
then home by 4, right?
Not so much.
Our flight out of Salt Lake was delayed,
so we missed our connection in Denver.
10 people got on via stand-by on a 2:55 flight,
but not my sister and I
who were traveling with 2 children.
Children should have been a priority.
So, we left on a 7:30 flight,
and got home around midnight...
Trying to entertain two kids for 8 hours
in an airport
is not and easy task.

So while getting home was a challenge,
I still had a great time :)

TOP TWO TUESDAY -> summer

Yes, I know it is Wednesday, but I just was overwhelmed with free time yesterday and decided to catch up on The Hills before the premiere.
And I just have to say: Kristin Cavalleri, get outta here.
The show was so much better when Lauren Conrad was on it.
As for Mrs. Pratt, she looked prettiest when we first met her as Heidi Montag.

Anyways, on to my top 2 favorite things about summer!

1. TRAVEL
I love getting on a plane and getting out of Indiana for a while.
Or in car, or on a boat...heck, I'll take a train!
I always have at least a few places I go each summer, near and far.
This year, I'll be heading to Salt Lake City (once again), Gatlinburg, Bloomington (not very far, I know), and possibly a weekend in Virginia.
Oh, and a couple day trips to Chicago and Cincinnati.
Bring on the sunshine and good times!

2. SOFTBALL
I play so much softball in the summer and love it.
I'm in such withdrawal since I've been and school and can't wait to get back on the field.
It's pretty much how I spend my Sunday, Monday, and Friday nights in the summers.
And there's always other little tournaments and added nights. :)

So...am I official now? :)

Awards? For blogging? Who knew?!
Well, I'll take it!
Thanks to my amazing sister
Jenn Gwynn @ Jagged Little Life
for the honor.

The rules............
Accept and thank the person who gave it to you!
List 10 things about yourself
List 5 additional things you DON'T like!
Then pick ten people to give this lovely award to!

10 things about me...
1. I spend way too much time with social media.
I have a Facebook, Twitter, a blog, and I am considering starting up a Tumblr site.
I don't think I've even shut down my old MySpace.
2. My dream's exist way above my head.
They rise above reality and make me strive for the extreme to make them come true.
3. I always have and always will love the sport of softball.
In the summer I play in 3 to 4 leagues and love every minute.
4. My favorite color varies with my mood.
It usually floats between green, blue, and purple.
5. I could live in flip flops. FOREVER.
However, due to foot injuries over the years,
I have to wear tennis shoes every once in a while to avoid excessive pain.
6. I have the most random taste in entertainment.
My movie, music, and book collections are all so random,
but in my opinion, amazing.
7. I am a major procrastinator. See my previous post.
8. I also have terrible time management skills.
Anything more appealing than homework wins every time.
9. Driving around is one of my favorite hobbies.
The music and the wind are sometimes the best company you can have.
10. I often live on impulse.
At least when it comes to small things,
like how to spend my time.
Oh, and shopping.
(I need to do something about that last one!)

And 5 things I don't like...
1. I always get migraines. Silent ones, normal ones, they all suck.
My aunt keeps telling me to see a doctor and get some real medication.
2. When I'm really tired, or am just not thinking at all,
I say random, stupid things.
And every time after I say it,
I'm just like, "Really? I'm a dork."
3. I am awful at saving money.
So much so that when I was typing that,
I automatically started to type "spending money."
4. I am terrible at keeping my room clean at home.
Even though I am away at college,
my room at home still looks like a tornado went through it.
5. I take things too literally sometimes,
which is ironic, because I am extremely sarcastic.

I am passing this award on to 1 lovely bloggers (haha)..
Because sadly,
besides my sister who presented me with this award,
this is the only blogger I know.
